During the 1952-53 Rotary year, members of the club voted to support the recommendation of the officers and board to hold an annual charity ball as the club's primary annual project. A separate nonprofit corporation was formed and named the ROTARY CHARITY FOUNDATION, INC. This legal step would permit tax deductible contributions to be made to the Foundation.

The Foundation was to be governed by the club's board of directors which was required to approve of all recommendations for administration of the charitable funds and distribution of grants.

Two standing committees were created. The Annual Benefit Committee was organized to stage the Charity Ball and the Project and Screening Committee was designated to select and review all projects to be presented annually to the club membership for final approval.

Since that first Ball in 1953, the Rotary Charity Foundation has funded grants of more than $2-million from the proceeds of the balls and other events as well as direct contributions from members.

The Charity Ball is no longer but raising and granting funds continues more strongly than ever before. Through the years charitable grants have been made to the following community organizations:
