President David Boree Addresses Club Assembly to Begin New Rotary Year

David Boree at Club AssemblyThe first meeting in July is traditionally called the Club Assembly. It's an opportunity for the incoming club president to outline what he and his fellow officers and committee chairs plan to accomplish in the next 12 months.

As the new Rotary year begins the new president — in this case David Boree — outlines goals and objectives for the coming year and reflects on the messages from the recent Rotary International Convention. Pres. David sees the club achieving a Premier Citation again this Rotary year.

One-by-one committee chairs stepped to the podium and listed their committees' top priorities.

Some examples: Membership Committee called for a 242 year-end membership headcount...a net gain of two from the close of this past year. This would give us an equivalent 101% retention rate. The committee reports that vetting new members should only take 72 hours to process. The Program Committee displayed a booked speakers' schedule extending to about Christmas. The Rotary Foundation team will again strive to keep the club poised as a 100% Paul Harris Club. The Hands-on-Project Committee will embark on an RI program of planting 242 trees (one for each member) as Rotary tries to achieve 1.2-million trees planted worldwide. And, generally the club expects to continue to embellish the work already underway with projects such as the Williams ViSioNary Scholarship program and our long-standing involvement with the Mercy Ships.
